The international humanitarian crisis has grown in the last few years, especially due to the great migration flows caused by socioeconomic problems, territorial and ethnic-racial conflicts and natural disasters. The pedagogical practice of Workshops for Humanitarian Architecture – Refuge and Shelter is present in the UIA2021 Congress and crosses all of its four themes. The goal of the proposed exercise of academic extension was to imagine new scenarios for a future less segregating and more humane, taking into account for case studies the situation in Brazil, especially in the border of Roraima’s state and Venezuela.

Due to the large interest in the subject, the Workshops for Humanitarian Architecture occurred in two modules – one in August and another in November of 2019, each one with around 60 participants, in addition to 16 speakers in diverse fields of knowledge and 4 coordinator professors of 2 partner universities.

The dynamic of the events was of a collaborative studio, with keynote speakers, debates, roundtables and case discussions, experience exchange between participants and analysis of reference projects; counting with orientation by the professor and guest speakers, resulting in provocative and instigating results, presented to the group in an at liberty and collective way.
