In a context in which schools need to contribute to the construction of a “public educational space”, we understand that they have the conditions to promote adaptation to the new emergency needs, making the city a school (Nóvoa, 2009).
Brazilian cities are facing difficulties in raising official solutions to fight the pandemic, a context which requires actions joint with the civil society with a multiplying potential. We consider that the formation of a local agents network is essential to build agile and replicable responses to new demands.
Thus, we start from the concept of multiplying knowledge, considering: the apprentices community; the need to master processes and not just results; and the reciprocity. The first idea lays on the formation of multidisciplinary groups searching collective knowledge that enables the safe use of public spaces in post-pandemic transition. The second is based on spreading the tools and processes to enable citizens to turn into transformation agents; the third refers to feedback: proposing and knowing how to reevaluate.
We propose an extracurricular graduation subject that develops skills and tools to multiply solutions of public spaces adaptability on the post-pandemic transition through tactical urbanism actions, which can: enable the implementation of reactivating public spaces measures using theoretical and practical knowledge; teach and learn from the local citizens; conjugate emerging solutions with traditional education.
