It’s a common phenomenon that teenagers in favelas drop out of school at the age of 15 due to their impoverished situations. Because of the deindustrialization in Maré, more and more young people can’t find a job so that they join the gangster to retain money and status. As the Rio government paid more on suppressing the gangster, education had been ignored. Well-educated people tried to enscape from Maré so this area is gradually declined. We focus on the biggest occupational school in Brazil in the site. Due to the thick industrial walls and Brazil Avenue, the school and community has been separated. This exclusive system also prevented favelas from integrating into urban. Based on the research , we come up with the new mode of education. At the first stage, the former Occupational School begins to grow to new neighborhood, which takes the advantage of providing students with diverse learning space and life service facilities. Through the Bottom-Up self-construction,students obtain accommodations and other school-life services. In return, residents gain profit to raise their children to school. At the second stage, Church gets involved to connect the school and community. By establishing more public infrastructure, such as clinic , community center and community service center, the new school will get closer relationship with the community. Besides, Church will organize public activities periodically. At the third stage, the school and community has set up stable bonds so that the school is able to expand its influence to the city. Students major in different subjects may establish their own workshop and other work place, while they can cooperate with each other to make Maré products and then sell to the city. By activating educational system and make chances for well-educated people stay in Maré, this area will finally become full of life.
