Our overall project strategy is based on the recognition of a cultural abundance emanating from the da maré complex. Tijuca National Park represents an environmental barrier that segregates this complex with the rest of the city. However, there are other physical, institutional and legal barriers that further disconnect this complex from its environment and generate dynamics of confrontation and borders.

Despite this, the habitants themselves have taken sides and developed new initiatives to create awareness and recognition. These initiatives are characterized as they represent cultural traditions, through which conscious education and community work are achieved to succeed. Our strategy seeks to act directly on the street as an element that allows expression and connection to enhance the identity of the favelas.
