Inclusion in and through architecture
Just over two years ago, Gabriela de Matos
launched the Black Women Architects (Arquitetas Negras) project, striving to identify and disseminate the work of black women in architecture. Born in Minas Gerais State and today the vice president of the São Paulo Chapter of the Brazilian Institute of Architects (IAB-SP), she is fostering discussions art racial and gender issues in urban planning. Heading up the Fundação Pedro Calmon Foundation in Bahia Sate, Zulu Araújo
is also battling against racism, while urging social inclusion. Both these architects are confirmed as speakers at UIA2021RIO.
