The Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB) is a non-governmental organization representing Brazilian architects and urban planners, dedicated to topics of interest to the architect, architectural culture and their relations with society. Founded in Rio de Janeiro on January 26, 1921, it is present in all the states of the Federation and the Federal District. It is also the oldest of the Brazilian entities dedicated to architecture, urbanism and professional activity.
At the international level, the IAB is a founding member of the International Union of Architects (UIA) - UNESCO's advisory body on habitat and built space quality issues - and the International Council of Architects of Portuguese Language (CIALP). He also participates in the Pan American Federation of Architects Associations (FPAA).
In Brazil, through its National Board of Directors, it is a member of the Collegiate of National Entities of Architecture and Urbanism (CEAU) - advisory body of the Brazilian Architecture and Urbanism Council (CAU / BR) - and is part of the Brazilian College of Architects (CBA), collective of the Brazilian entities of architecture and urbanism.
