Since 2019, a steady stream of cultural events has paved the way to the 27th World Congress of Architects – UIA2021RIO. This calendar was suspended in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, with the remaining events being rescheduled as soon as possible.

Cultural facilities in Rio de Janeiro will host exhibitions and workshops, together with music and movie festivals, among many other activities. Some events are being organised by local institutions, while others will be produced by entities in other cities or countries, all eager to firm up their presence in Rio de Janeiro at the Congress and Forum, during the year that this City is the World Capital of Architecture.

What is the purpose?

Events linked to the World Congress of Architects and the World Capital of Architecture offer unparalleled opportunities for countries and their governments, societies and representatives to exchange experiences in the fields of architecture and urban planning, as well as other correlated cultural activities. In other words, this is a forum for presenting successful solutions in terms of concepts, technology, construction, management and economics.

What is available?

This where countries and their representatives showcase matters of interest related to the event theme and topics. More specifically, significant experiences linked to architecture, urban planning and construction are featured, underpinning possibilities of closing business deals in the fields of architecture and urban planning.

What is sought?

The goal is to ensure broad-ranging input from architects, urban planners and students through sharing expertise and interactions among different experiences in their homelands. Exhibitions, films, lectures, forums, proposals and other ways of conveying professional and academic experiences are welcome.

Where? And when?

The main Congress will be held in the historic heart of Rio de Janeiro, with other premises used during 2019, 2020 and 2021 for specific purposes at specialised cultural facilities throughout the city, including museums, galleries, plazas and event venues.
